The Moroccan Ram Shofar is made of a top quality mature ram. It is flat and completely straight. Its origin is of the Spanish Inquisition period, when Jews had to hide their true religion and customs. Flat and straight Shofar enabled them to hide it under their garments.
From Spain, some Jews immigrated to North Africa, and some to Eastern Europe, bringing this unique Shofar-Style with them. A lively industry of similar Shofars was developed in Morocco, and this is how this Shofar received its name. It has a noted narrow sound-box, and therefore a high pitch sound.
